Organic farming is constantly evolving in the Centre-Loire Valley region of France, accounting for 812 farms over 34,000 ha surface, wich has increased by 11 % between 2012 and 2013. Regional organic production remains in 12th place national ranking, while the processing and distribution displayed a dynamism that sets the region in the 10th place nationally.

Bio Centre is an association representing players in the Centre-Loire Valley region’s organic farming sector. It came into being in 2007, the result of the merging of Biociel – a regional association of organic producers – and Inter Bio Centre, a regional interprofessional body. The association federates all operators involved in the development of the region’s organic farming sector, and is designed as a structure for exchange and dialogue between the different segments of the sector. Bio Centre’s mission is to coordinate development of the organic sector in the French Centre-Loire Valley region.
