Several contact centres were set up in the Centre-Loire Valley region in the early 1970s, but the sector saw major development in the late 1990s, with a real boom between 1999 and 2000. Orleans was the first city in the Centre-Loire Valley region to benefit from major decentralisation of CRCs from Ile-de-France.
The Orleans urban area seemed an excellent alternative for service providers wishing to stay close to the Paris region while taking advantage of lower real-estate costs, rich and non-competitive employment catchment areas, and a specific real-estate offer with creation of dedicated buildings for such activities. In 2000, the Téléperformance Group was one of the first to set up a major call centre in Orleans.
